New! Free wireless internet access at the Chamber with e-Polk!
Are you planning on travelling to our area, but wonder where you will check your email or perhaps just want to browse the web? Are you a laptop user, wireless, and want to know where you can hook-up? You can come to the Chamber of Commerce office and use our wireless internet access.
The Polk County Chamber of Commerce welcomes as members e-Polk, providers of "PANGAEA" Internet and Data Service. e-Polk is a LOCAL non-profit organization which supplies Fiber Optic at data speeds far exceeding DSL and Cable at an affordable price. In addition, PANGAEA's fiber supports Voice-over-IP and Syncronous upload/download speed (2.5 - 5.0+) mbps. The PANGAEA network is available to businesses in downtown Tryon and along Highway 108 to Cooper-Riis, soon to Rutherfordton. In coming months e-Polk hopes to have a complete fiber connection to Spartanburg.
