Welcome!

Polk County is a great place to visit! It’s an even better place to live. We are becoming a destination for tourists and retirees with our low cost of living, strong community environment, easy access to major roadways, airports and large cities, as well as the beauty of the mountains, the lush valleys, streams, rivers and rushing waterfalls.

Polk County has a charming laid-back atmosphere. It’s a place where people still care about each other, where the cost of living hasn’t gone out of sight, and folks can still leave their doors unlocked. But Polk County also has sophistication, a variety of cultural activities, a branch community college, access to first rate health care, and a unique assortment of historical treasures.

The Polk County Chamber of Commerce, whose mission is to provide leadership in developing business and economic opportunities that enhance the quality of life in our community, encourage you to use this book as a means to reach local businesses. If you are already a resident here, we want to encourage you to shop at home, keeping resources in our area. If you are considering relocation to our county, we hope this demonstrates to you the strength of our business community.
